“Your 20’s are your ‘selfish’ years. It’s a decade to immerse yourself in every single thing possible. Be selfish with your time, and all the aspects of you. Tinker with shit, travel, explore, love a lot, love a little, and never touch the ground.”
-Kyoko Escamilla

The 20s is a wonderful and the most important decade in a person’s life. It is the time when you explore more about yourself, about the world and your relationship with it. According to many successful people what you end up doing in this decade can undo a bad past and set up a great future. We should use this decade to set up some good habits which would work wonders for us in the future. This is that period in your life when your utmost priority should be setting the right habits for yourself and then comes your goals because you’ll never change your life until you change something you do daily. The secret mantra of your success is found in your daily routine. Here are a few habits that we all should build up in our twenties which could help us achieve our goals and make us a better version of ourselves.

Habit 1: Smile at The Mirror

Every morning when you wake up, the first thing you should do is to look at yourself in the mirror and smile — a big, broad smile. 20s is a decade of self-doubt. It is a time when we feel incomplete, inadequate and lost. To learn to love yourself is the most difficult thing today. This simple habit of smiling at the mirror, makes you drop your emotions at that moment. It helps you acknowledge yourself for who you really are and is a great technique to gain that self-confidence.

Habit 2: Write Everyday

Writing is a great tool to self-reflect. When we write, we slow down our thoughts. We structure our thoughts in a better way. We train our minds to think coherently. This also allows us to reflect on what we are genuinely thinking and how we are feeling at the time. Writing is an excellent method to become your own best friend, because who better to guide you than yourself?

Habit 3: Resist the Obvious

If you do what everyone else does, you will end up where everyone else will. For every situation think of what the majority crowd will do and then think of things beyond that. Try to make it into a game and soon it will become the way you think. This is a magical habit. It compounds magnificently to the point where it becomes second nature and when it does it sets you up for outcomes that most of the world will not witness for themselves.

Habit 4: Don’t Be the Commentator

During a cricket match being the commentator seems the simplest of all tasks. You aren’t really doing anything worth appreciating. What really matters is to be the one in the arena and fighting it out. Appreciate the courage that the players show. Savor the experience. Taking risks and chances is what really matters in one’s life and your twenties is the perfect time to explore your various interests. Have the courage to get up from that couch and showcase what you have got instead of fearing failure and judging others of their actions.

Habit 5: Patience and Success Go Hand In Hand

All good things in life take time. Learn to wait because life doesn’t give you everything served on a golden plate. You have to work hard to earn that extra income. Working hard and patience are directly proportional to each other. Patience puts us in direct control of ourselves. It gives us time to think over and make those decisions rather than getting emotionally hijacked. Your 20s is that time when you take the most important decisions of your lives which directly impacts your future choices. So, learn to be patient and learn to wait be it for somebody’s response or for that package you ordered online. There is no more powerful aid to success than self-possession

Habit 6: Know How to Learn

The world is rapidly changing. What you know today, may not even exist tomorrow. The only thing then that can set you up for life is if you know how to become a student when you have to. Know what is it to learn anything by yourself. Self-learning is the best possible way of educating yourself. No teacher, no YouTube video can teach you the way you can teach yourself. When we try to learn different thing, then we know exactly what works best for us. A successful person is the one who never stops learning and exploring.

Habit 7: Remove Toxic Relationships

It is in our 20s that we form the most meaningful relationships. But it is also the decade where we persist with old ones that we shouldn’t. Knowing how to walk away from such relationships is key to knowing how to respect yourself. Selflove and self-respect are the most important thing to stay put with your decisions. Relationships can have a great impact on your decisions. It can change the way you think of yourself and how you look at the world around. Having a good friend circle can greatly affect you in a positive way.

Most of these habits would be insanely hard to follow when you start with them but they would yield unexpected results. That’s the beauty of habits. They lead you to destinations you could not have decided for yourself. They create opportunities that would seem impossible early on. They make you comfortably equipped with uncertainty. Twenties is that age point of your life when you have nothing to lose but all to gain. So don’t set goals instead set habits. Habits will make you achieve much higher goals than you could have set for yourself. Do consider following us a following so that you will never miss our upcoming informative and fun blogs .
