Navigation through offline class
Intro
Time flies ….It was just a few days ago we all got our reopening mail but now we are in college. With excitement ,anxiety ,fear of moving outside our homes for some of us ,love for college ,love for the life that we dreamt of we picked up our bags and traveled towards kelambakkam which is in the outskirts of Chennai .It wasn’t an easy journey for most of us it was leaving our home for long period for the first time ,but It wasn’t a regret at all .Lets make an account of our first fortnight in college.
About campus
The vibrant and big campus with 192 acre campus and several buildings is really a pain in your legs : ) .The lush green campus is well maintained and filled with never ending energy of students everywhere .It is really a beautiful campus with numerous spots to hangout and chill .The campus is a gated community for hostelers, with practically all sports available. Some well-known cafeterias within the campus include the always-crowded Gazebo, a good restaurant setup of Gymkhana, and the sunny North Square. There are several more cafeterias within the academic building that have recently begun operations.
How does the campus feel?
The lovely green campus is often packed with people wandering about. It’s been fantastic on campus. Classes, in particular, made more sense offline than online. If you’ve ever felt awful because you weren’t able to listen to an online class and then realized it was the same for the entire class, offline class is a chance to make a comeback. But it’s not all positive , VIT being in the outer part of the city is quite hot especially this summer(2022) so it’s just a general reminder to not forget your sunscreen(if you have never used one ,I would recommend using it ).
Then comes a very important question
*How was the offline exam ?*
To be honest, it was more difficult than you would have expected, but what was the most difficult aspect of the entire offline setup? In fact we were writing closed book offline exams from our 1st grade .The formulae and the difficulty in covering the length of the portion were the most difficult parts of the exam.
Did we feel awkward when we spoke to the profile pictures of the people with whom we had been chatting?
It was, of course, different from the typical intro experience we have on campus; yet, most of us did not feel awkward when we spoke, and we made numerous new friends who got close in a short period of time. If you’re nervous about meeting new people, it’s alright to relax and know that you’ll merely meet other individuals who are as nervous and will ultimately settle in.
What was the learning part of 1st week ?
The realization of how different online personalities can be.This happens because most of us might have assumed someone’s physique after speaking with them and sometimes it would be totally different .The person who used to actively text might be a textrovert and the person who barely engages in online would be very much engaging we never know.
We asked several VITians what made them feel good on campus?
There were many things that made them happy, one of which was experiencing offline campus life, which is very important for one’s growth, as well as the vast campus itself, meeting their friends in person after only waving hands on video calls, the lush green lawns, the massive library, and many others….
To sum it up, an offline college experience is clearly a must for every student. Now that the dates for your campus reopening's have been announced, just get ready, fear nothing, and be ready to experience the unexpected… We hope you have a wonderful time on campus.
