1.HP 15s-FQ2071TU and HP 14s-DQ253TU
The HP 15s and 14s come with an 11th gen intel silicon and 8 gigs of ram. The 14s also has a variant that features Ryzen 5 It has 512 GB SSD and runs Windows 10. It comes pre-installed with MS office. One of most the impressive features of this PC is that it has 32GB of optane storage too. Intel optane is a multi-use storage device. This 32 GB can be used as RAM as well as ROM as an when necessary. The i5 variant puts this device well in the most preferred 50–60k range while the i7 one might be heavier in the wallet.
2.HP Pavilion Gaming(2021)
There is no doubt that this PC made it to the top of the list, considering that it is a literal beast. Although the i7 chip and 16GB ram seems a bit overkill for a college laptop, many VITians went with the higher specs. It does have 512GB SSD, Optane memory and 4GB of Nvidia GTX 1650Ti. It falls in the 80–100k range and thus making it miss the 1st position. It’s a serious gaming laptop but its much more than that. If you are a fan of that power, this is the best fit for you.
3. ASUS Vivo Book Ultra S15
This Asus Laptop managed to make it into the top 3 due a crazy spec sheet and a cute little feature. Starting off it has a 11th gen Intel i7 silicon, 8GB RAM as well as 512GB of M.2 NVMe PCIe 3.0 Storage. It has a 2GB Graphics card courtesy of Nvidia and still manages to be light at 1.8kg. The cute feature that was foreshadowed is that, it actually has a display on the track pad. Asus calls it a screen pad and we’d be lying if we said it didn’t look cool. All of this and it still manages to squeeze itself in the under — 85k range.
4. Dell Vostro 5415
Although being the second most preferred brand, Dell only makes an entry at no. 4. The Dell Vostro 5415 has a Ryzen 5500U CPU, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD and integrated graphics. It features a backlit key board too. Best of all, it has a physical camera shutter for privacy. That means, even if your camera was switched on by mistake during a class, you would still have to open the physical shutter for the lens to see anything… We are sure everyone wants that feature:) although being the second most preferred brand, Dell only makes an entry at no. 4. 5. The ASUS Triplets (S14, K14, P4)
The thing about Asus is that, they know exactly how to make the optimal laptops. Not giving you too less and not giving you too much, seems to be their speciality. The Asus S14, K14 and the P4 are basically triplets born together with very minor differences. All three fall into the lovely 50–60k bracket, have an i5/Ryzen 5 processor, 8GB ram, 512GB SSD and have preloaded MS office. The S14 alone gets a 2GB MX250 dedicated graphics. All three of them are incredibly light at around 1.2 Kg. So u slip it into your backpack and you are barely gonna feel it.
6. The Apple MacBook Pro M1
We were as surprised as you to see the mac at no. 6. But you must remember, this list does not depict the best laptop, rather it just represents what Vitians actually look for in a PC. With 8GB RAM, 512 GB SSD and Apple’s own homemade M1 silicon put this device costlier than the OLA electric scooter:) However, the quality, UX and privacy of apple devices are unparalleled.
7. The MacBook Air
With almost all the specs similar to its costlier cousin, the 2020 MacBook Air is literally lighter and lighter on the pocket too. Falling in the under 90k range, the MacBook air has a smaller storage of 256 GB SSD.
8. Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3
The Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3 has an Intel i5 11th gen or Ryzen 5 processor as per your choice, 8 Gigs of RAM and 512GB SSD. Pretty standard specs. However, it comes with a 2 year warranty, which is double of what is seen from other brands. Even then it comfortably sits in the 50–60k price range
9. Acer Aspire 5
The Acer aspire also has an Intel i5 11th gen processor, 8 Gigs of RAM and 512GB SSD. Pretty standard specs. This laptop also does feature the Intel Iris Xe Graphics. However, the look and appeal are pretty normal and a bit old school.
10. MSI Modern 14
The MSI modern 14 has the same 8 + 512GB SSD storage with an Intel i5 11th gen and lies in the 50–60k bracket. Otherwise, this PC doesn’t have any special features but managed to make it on to the list due to its specs and brand preference.
