Here we have another CAT this month .VITrendz brings you what’s this? solves your doubts about CAT and also brings you the best way to practice ,not to miss out the notes for CAT .

What is the CAT exam and the system?

CAT-Continuous Assessment Test

Academic flow of VIT can be differentiated into 2 Internals(CAT1,CAT2,Digital Assignments, Quiz) and FAT(Final Assessment test ).In VIT Internal contributes of 60% and FAT contributes of 40% weightage
There will be 2 CAT exams in a semester for each theory subject .Duration of both CAT will be 45 minutes+15minutes for uploading your answers.CAT 1 (Continuous Assessment Test 1) and CAT 2 (Continuous Assessment Test 2) both together contribute 30% (15 each)of your total marks in the subject .CAT exams will be conducted for 30 marks and usually it will be converted to 15 marks while you calculate your total marks on the subject . Both CAT — I and CAT — II are open book examinations right now in online classes(2021).

Percentage of attendance required for attending CAT?What if I miss CAT?
It is mandatory that you have to keep 75% attendance to appear for CAT except for 9 pointers (both in online and offline).Still if you have a valid reason and was not able to attend ,contact your proctor and your HoD, HoD has to confirm with ze/zir higher officials on this if they agree it is possible. Sometimes requesting your staff with valid reason might also work😉

Will my mates of different classes have the same questions ?

No ,mostly different staff have different portions and different questions for CAT but sometimes you may have the same model question of staff who take morning and evening slots.

What about codetantra?

Codetantra is a remote-proctoring platform .Codetantra notifies staff about users from having extended screens, using developer tools(inspect),and navigating out of the window.Type of questions, for both CAT — I and CAT — II are short and long answers. Be prepared to scan and upload the answers, as per the course requirement. The type and number of questions will be decided by the course faculty and is dependent on the nature of the course. Additional timing of 15 minutes will be given to scan and upload the answers.CAT will be conducted using CodeTantra platform with remote proctoring. Students are advised to login at least 15 min(30 mins before exam is considered to be the best) before the commencement of the continuous assessment test. This is required for environment check and verification by the proctor .Students should produce either the VIT student ID card or any other ID card issued by the government(eg :Aadhaar card/PAN card/voter id).

Is a laptop mandatory for Exams?

It is preferable to attend exams with a laptop but you can attend it through phone also.

What kind of verifications will be done ?

Usually verification depends on the proctor of exam(not your academic proctor this person is also called proctor ).All staffs will check your ID for sure ,some might go further to show your paper ,and adjust the angle of camera ,some might even go further to ask you show 360* of your room (rarely).

Suggested setups for exams?

Since codetantra does not allow extended screen setup having a PC/laptop with main screen alone along with phone is preferable .If possible having a 3rd device might help you. It is advisable to charge all of your devices 100% before exam. In case of power cut or any other technical issue contact the exam proctor immediately the number and name of exam proctor will be shown to you throughout the exam .Incase of power cut do not panic just inform your proctor and join through your phone.

Will everyone in class get the same questions?

No,Usually there are two or three sets of questions for each exam depending on faculty which is randomised by codetantra .Sometimes the 1st question of yours might match with your friend but not the second.

Can we expect direct questions?

No,It is almost impossible to have direct questions, but it still depends on your faculty .Usually it is indirect and twisted questions.

How to prepare?

Here we provide you tips on how to prepare for CAT.
