Teenage and early adulthood is a little too hard as there is a transition that is going on simultaneously within our bodies and mind especially when the pandemic gave a smashing hit towards the mode of schooling , The feeling of isolation ,the anxiousness that isolation brings and not one or two but many went through this. Here this week we are speaking about Mental health issues that surround students and better ways ahead
Getting up →coffee →breakfast →class →repeat ,yeah we know that this cycle has made us all tired to make it worse mail play its own part .
Many students in India do not seek treatment when they are experiencing mental health issues.14% young Indians feel depressed, only 41% seek help says a report by UNICEF. Another survey conducted by The State of the World’s Children 2021, found that one in every seven persons aged between 15 to 24 reported feeling depressed or having little to no interest in doing activities.
According to the Indian Journal of Psychiatry in 2019, even before the epidemic, at least 50 million children in India were affected by mental health disorders, with 80–90% not seeking help.
What are the most frequent mental health issues in Student ?
Depression: It affects more children and adolescents now than in previous decades. Teenagers are more prone than young children to suffer from depression.
Self-harm: This is a highly prevalent issue among teenagers. Some individuals who are experiencing tremendous emotional suffering may attempt to cope by injuring themselves.
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD): A kind of anxiety disorder, can occur following a life-threatening or terrifying experience. Although you were not personally engaged, the shock of what happened might be so overwhelming that you struggle to live a regular life.
Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD): It affects children who are regularly hyperactive, impulsive, and have trouble paying attention.
Eating disorders: This disorder often begins in adolescence and are more frequently seen in girls than in boys. Although the percentage of youngsters who acquire an eating problem is low, eating disorders such as anorexia and bulimia nervosa can have a major effect on their physical health and development.
Mental health issues doesn't restrict itself these part but these are most common and frequent mental issues.
Let us now dive into the topic of Depression, one of the most common mental health disorders in the Globe.
Depression
Although there is a line between sadness and depression, we usually get confused between them. While it is acceptable to feel low after experiencing disappointments and setbacks, this should not continue more than a few days or become so overwhelming that the individual becomes immobilized with negative thoughts.

- You tend to feel sad, which can include crying spells for no specific reason.
- You get frustrated and angry over penny things.
- You feel guilty, empty, hopelessness
- You have low self-esteem, you show low interest in family or friends or any usual activities.
- You keep thinking about the Fixation of previous failures, as well as excessive self-blame or self-criticism
- You are extremely sensitive to rejection or failure, as well as an excessive desire for assurance.
- You are Having difficulty thinking, concentrating, making judgments, and remembering things.
- Persistent feeling that life and the future are dark. Thoughts of death, dying, or a suicide occur frequently.
Few Proven methods to take care of our mental health
- Exercise: Any form of physical exercise will help, it helps in maintaining physical fitness and it helps you in positively diverting the mind.
- Pen & Paper method: Just take a sheet and lo a pen/pencil, vent out all the thoughts and you will feel better. This not only eliminates the trust issue which you would have had if it was a human but also clears your mind.
- Talking to your close ones: This might also help you feel better.
- Yoga :Doing Yoga too will benefit both physical and mental health.
- Own time : Spending some time on your Hobbies will make us feel better
- Appreciate yourself for your accomplishments in the past and today, no matter how minor they are. Concentrate on the good elements of life and seek out those that inspire you. Never be nasty or harsh to yourself. Consider your strengths and the blessings you have in your life.
- Therapy: The word Therapy gets weird attention but Mental health specialists such as social workers, psychological counsellors, and doctors are well-equipped with the appropriate intervention tactics to assist you in fighting depression effectively. As a result, they are a perfect place to seek expert help in this area. So just neglect the society bitching about it, just go for it if you need it.
